The Leichter Panzerspähwagen (German: "light armoured reconnaissance vehicle ") was a series of light four-wheel drive armoured cars produced by Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1944.

The 222 was introduced in 1938 and quickly became the main German armored scout car, largely distributed to Aufklärung Abteilungs (recce squadrons) of SS units, Panzerdivisions and Motorized Infantry Divisions.
