Feb 17, 2023 · I was looking to build [[Zethi, Arcane Blademaster]] as she seems like an interesting take on Azorius and storm, but I worry about finding her to be lack luster. So for those who have played her or against her, what are your opinions and suggested directions?

Love the spellslinging aspect of this commander, but I’m checking to see before I build the deck if there’s an alternate consistent play style for her that doesn’t involve mass token swarming. I like the idea of beefing her up or dealing mass chip damage that can explode on a later turn.

Use creatures such as Monastery Mentor, Talrand, Murmuring Mimic, and Metallurgic Summonings to create tokens everytime you cast an instant with Zethi. When you have a critivcal mass of creatures and the opponent is low enough, pump up the team with Mirror Entity, Starlight Spectacular, or Makindi Stampede and swing for lethal. Go big.

This deck is tuned to have plenty of cheap instant spells that are perfect for Zethi to kick and cast every turn. From bounce target permanents, exile, card draw/discard, and counterspells we got them.

Zethi plays like an aggressive/tempo control deck, trying to lock out the opponent as fast as possible. Its game plan is essentially to accelerate into getting Zethi online and acting as the deck's primary card draw engine and repeatable threat removal, providing inevitability in attritioning the opponent.
