Feb 3, 2019 · Daxing was designed by the Sui Emperor Wen's (r. 581-604) famous architect Yuwen Kai (555-612 AD). Yuwen laid out the city with a highly formal symmetry that integrated natural scenery and lakes. The design served as a model for many other Sui and later cities.
