Yirrkala is a small community in East Arnhem Region, Northern Territory, Australia, 18 kilometres (11 mi) southeast of the large mining town of Nhulunbuy, on the Gove Peninsula in Arnhem Land.

Since 2011 the Miyalk (women) rangers have dedicated a part of their djäma (work) to developing a range of personal care products by utilising their extensive ecological knowledge. The products have been developed incorporating Yolŋu healing plants, backed by generations of knowledge and wisdom. Ṉämbarra is used to treat cold and flu symptoms.

We are a social enterprise in Northeast Arnhem Land, led by 'miyalk' (female) rangers, supporting homeland communities by creating natural personal care products inspired by traditional healing practices with native plants.

The Yirralka Rangers were established in 2003 and represent the Yolngu Traditional Owners of north-east Arnhem Land. The Yirralka Rangers manage the land and sea in the Laynhapuy Indigenous Protected Area, which extends from Gove Peninsula to Blue Mud Bay and covers about 4500 km² of land and 480 km of coastline.

Our product range includes bush body scrub, body rub, soap and lip balm. The native plants we use in our products include: To date, our products have been sold at various festivals and markets across the NT including the Garma Festival and markets at Nhulunbuy and Darwin.

Gäṉgaṉ is home to many world renowned artists. Dhälinybuy is situated approx 80kms from Yirrkala. Ancestral lands of the Wangurri people. A freshwater community on the banks of the Cato river. Dhälinybuy is home to some of most distinct weavers in North East Arnhem Land.

Today Yirrkala is home to the world renowned Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Art Centre, as well its museum and replicas of the original Bark Petitions. It is also surrounded by beautiful beaches and provides access to the Gulf of Carpentaria via the Yirrkala Boat Ramp.
