There are two methods of joining yew and osage billets. The simplest way is to join them in a seamless steel tube 1 1/8" in diameter. The ends of the billets are carefully rounded so they fit perfectly in the 4" tube.

I am making an ELB out of some nice yew billets. So far I have spliced the billets (with some help), cut the stave to profile and started reducing the belly. So far the limbs are barely bending and I have only floor tillered.

Jul 21, 2014 · I had a good tidy yesterday as I had a couple of people drop in for a chat and a play with the bows. Today I cut splices into a couple of pairs of Yew billets. I'd had a couple of splices fail last year, so this time I did a Z splice rather than a simple V as it gives more glue area.

Feb 15, 2014 · In theory you have two perfectly matched billets split from the same large diameter Yew trunk with 3/16" of sapwood and evenly curved backs..... yeah in my dreams.
