Oct 26, 2008 · I like my Yaesu YS-500, and may be tempted to part with it near the end of this month. The cost was under $150.00, and does not require separate slugs as would the more expensive SWR meters by Bird and others. Jan 21, 2012 · I was also quite happy with the performance of the Palstar meter I once owned. Another good choice (although you'd have to buy used) is the Yaesu YS-60. It seems to get excellent reviews. I use the YS-500 on my VHF/UHF radio and quite pleased with the build quality and performance.
