Oct 1, 2012 · Yes, I tried HRD and PCC-450 from Yaesu Going to try PuTTY next and see what's going on. BTW, in the PDF file that comes with the firmware upgrade there's specific instructions on how to use the 60m privileges. Also, use a real serial port if you can for the upgrade. I tried USB and virtual serial ports and the upgrade failed in the first step.

Jul 6, 2017 · True, the FT-891 has no internal tuner, while the FT-450D does, but with a resonant antenna or a strong external auto-tuner (which many supplement the 450D with, to run a wide-band antenna, anyway), the FT-891 is the more versatile rig. Improvements in DSP over the FT-450D are huge. The noise reduction actually works very well, with less tweaking.

Jun 13, 2017 · The 450D was my first rig, I still have it for portable ops. I've moved on to a TS-590SG and a IC-7300. For the $500 I paid for the 450 used it is still a lot of fun.

Jan 14, 2019 · Classic case of over anylizing. The 450 is a very good radio. It will give no trouble, will match any decent antenna.

May 2, 2018 · @N3HKN Hold on to your FT-450D, very nice radio. My first radio was a 450 then the 450D, so much fun we had together and such a competent little radio it is. Hard to find anything better if on a tight budget. Great radio! If I had to sell everything and buy just one radio and the IC7300 would be to expensiv, I would go for the FT-450D any day.

Feb 17, 2017 · Portability aside, how does this radio compare to the FT-450D? They are within $20 of each other, cover the same bands/modes. I imagine the FT-891 has improve RX. Also, the FT-450D includes a built-in tuner. Because of my compromised antenna system in my small suburban lot, and lousy band conditions I mainly work digital modes like PSK31 and JT65.

Aug 19, 2017 · Yaesu marketing was brilliant, In the incipient phase of Fusion, Yaesu decided to allow clubs (initially) and later individuals to purchase the Fusion DR-1X system including a FT-1DR HT and FTM-400 mobile for $500 including shipping provided certain requirement were agreed to. Later only the repeaters were sold. They flew off the shelf!
