Dec 21, 2021 · I also prefer the stocking foot style with separate boots. They weigh significantly less (especially if traveling) and I can switch boots for different terrain. Lug soles are fine for sand or rough surfaces but you'll want either felt or studded soles for slick rocks. To save weight and costs, we've used old work boots.

Jul 7, 2008 · How did that work out or is that why your back to flats sneakers? My guess is the snake boots didnt hold up to well since they werent designed for underwater use. Slim, I have thought about kevlar as well. I'm no expert but I dont think it would work, kevlar's strength is designed for fast moving relatively blunt objects.

Apr 29, 2008 · Now the real test would be to somehow hit it with enough force like a stingray would and see how they work. If I were a designer I would make a reef boot that could offer protection and be fast draining and light. It would have to have a zipper for fast on and off and some sort of velcro band or something to tie the boots on tight for deep mud.

Feb 11, 2021 · I made sure they fit with my Simms neoprene socks but didn’t even think about my waders at the time. Low and behold they won’t work with my Simms waders. I would really suggest going to FTU where you can try on the BBA boots with the wader footies. They have samples at the store. Those BBA boots don’t have a lot of extra room.

Dec 5, 2020 · Strictly wet wading boot for anyone without pencil feet. They do work though, I got stuck by a ray in the bottom of my foot, watching it swim off, and walked away unharmed. If he ever makes a wider lace up pair for winter applications I will buy another pair. Until then, the new Simms Flyweight wading boots are extremely light and comfortable.

Dec 25, 2007 · Don't wear snow shoes, mud shoes, RayGuards etc. I've tried snow shoe type mud shoes, they were cool until one sticks and you go over. I've even made some floating snow shoes out of foam and fiberglass, didn't work either. You could drown wearing anykind of mud boot. The best boot I've found are lace up wade boots.

I liked my Xtratuff boots, so I bought a pair of Xtratuff shoes and I like them too. I’ve had my boots for a couple of seasons and they’re holding up well.

Jun 7, 2023 · Fished the surf and stepped on a huge gaftop/hardhead while wading my way back to the beach. He finned me on the side of the leg. I had wading boots on, got me right on the side of them. Pain set in after about 30min. I can only describe the level of pain I was in as crying/screaming level. Extremely painful. Incapacitating! I could not drive.
