Aug 8, 2003 · Start by heading 40-50 yards upriver from the wing dam you want to fish amd face the front of the boat into the current then drop the anchor. From here there are several approaches you can take. I would start a good distance in front of the dam because generally the active fish are on or in front of the wing dams.

With the boat anchored 30-40yards off the face of the wing dam we were able to cast the baits parallel to the rocks while letting the offering drift towards the waiting fish.

Some wing dams are “sticky” and you will loose some jigs and some wing dams are silted in, you should get bit quickly if there are fish on that particular wing dam. If nothing in 10-15 minutes….move along the wing dam or move to another wing dam all together.
