Wolf Awareness Week is a U.S. holiday observed in the third week of October each year. This year, it takes place from October 19 to 25. This week, wolves feel safer than they ever have, and attract special, humane attention from the human race.

National Wolf Awareness Week is observed during the third week of October and celebrates an animal that plays a key role in keeping the ecosystem healthy. Wolves help to keep elk and deer populations in check, which in turn can allow plants and other animal species to thrive.

National Wolf Awareness Week was created in 1966 to highlight the importance of wolves in the environment. This week, we will be spotlighting the natural history and conservation efforts that are in place to protect red wolves and gray wolves.
