Dec 3, 2018 · Walden Pond is a 62-acre great pond located a little to the southeast of the junction of Routes 2 and 126 in Concord. Maximum depth is 100 feet; average depth is approximately 39 feet. Transparency is excellent, extending to at least 18 feet. Aquatic vegetation is negligible and confined to the few shallow cove areas.

Best known through Henry David Thoreau’s Walden, Walden Pond and the surrounding Walden Woods was a favorite destination for walks by local Concord Transcendentalists Thoreau and Ralph Waldo Emerson.
