Wabbajack has been around for a while now, but I am still seeing misinformation and confusion surrounding the program. I wanted to take some time today and explain what the program does and does not do and why it is a net positive for this community. What is Wabbajack? Wabbajack is an automated modlist installer.

Poor behavior reflects on the community as a whole and impacts how Wabbajack is perceived and treated by the wider modding community which in turn undermines the entire point of Wabbajack - to make modding more accessible and open to everyone.

Aug 3, 2019 · As of version 0.2, Wabbajack supports the following features: Automated modlist generation given (mostly) only a Mod Organizer 2 profile. Automated downloads from Nexus Automated downloads from HTTP sites (direct URLs) Automated downloads from Dropbox, GoogleDrive, and ModDB Automated patching of files via a binary diffing system.

Jan 21, 2021 · Don't stress about it. The distinction is entirely arbitrary--as far as I can tell the Wabbajack staff literally made it up in order to highlight that their program doesn't redistribute files, since a lot of mod authors were suspicious initially. Twitch Modpacks for Minecraft work the same way essentially, no files are distributed.

Jan 6, 2024 · I has to restart wabbajack or my internet 20+ times when installing Living Skyrim. Also, when you download multiple mods at once, sometimes the wabbajack just decides not to download one, resulting in "failed to download" errors. Reboot wabbajack and continue installation as many times as it fails.

Nov 14, 2021 · Most Wabbajack modlists are not compatible with either the Skyrim Anniversary Edition or the free Anniversary Update. The Anniversary Edition and Anniversary Update make a number of fundamental changes which mean many critical tools, such as SKSE and mods that rely on those tools, need to be updated.

Feb 14, 2023 · My best suggestion is to read the descriptions of the different available modlists on the Wabbajack app. By the way, don't install Atomic Warfare, I was unaware of the reputation of the author and I started encountering weird problems immediately upon booting up the modlist... Even though, gameplay-wise, It looked perfect... What a shame.

These are lists that have undergone extensive testing to ensure that the mods are properly patched and stable enough to be endorsed by our team. In short, you can download these lists, install them, and get a stable gameplay experience (as long as you don't modify them after installation).
