The issue of German aces ‘scores’ remains, I see, as hotly debated as it was when my question of WW1 and WW2 aces was first bought to my attention (good grief was it really 1971?, that’s near forty years ago!)

The British response to how to win WW1 was to basically successfully attrit the enemy through combined arms at all levels, in order to create conditions for a rupture; the German response to how to win WW1 was basically "win before the enemy establishes a continuous front".
