Mar 16, 2019 · As HuntFarther said, Use 300 WSM brass and size in a 7 WSM die. take the case and try for fit in your chamber and when you have a .003 to .004 thousandths crush fit stop sizing. The case will feel tight, but the bolt will close (Just like doing an Ackley) This will hold the case firmley in place and allow it to fire form with minimum case stretch.

Aug 24, 2009 · I do have a lot of experience with many different makes of Short mag brass and I have some strong opinions. First Norma is the best Short mag brass, and it is worth the extra cost. In the last couple of months I have been loading Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor brass and I have been impressed with it, so it may be worth a try in 300 WSM.

Nov 3, 2022 · It looks like 7 SAUM might be my best option, IF brass ever becomes available. I'm not confident that the extra length of the WSM case can be smashed into my 6.8 sizing die. I'm still curious if 6.5 PRC would work, brass is much easier to find. Let me know if anybody has info on 6.5 prc being used for 6.8 western.

Oct 30, 2010 · 270 and 300 wsm brass have the same dimensions (except neck diameter obviously) so the 270 would be easier to use. Probably the simplest route to go would be to pick up a set of Redding 270 wsm "S" type bushing dies and switch out the 270 bushing for the size needed to get the desired neck tension on your 6.5 wsm. May 21, 2012 · Last bag of Winchester WSM brass I got had 2 cases that wouldn't fit the shell holder, I called Winchester and bitched about it and they sent a call tag for the brass, I sent it back and they sent me a $20.00 coupon for Winchester stuff. Not a bad deal I suppose but it really should at least fit the shell holder.

Mar 24, 2020 · Some observations in general, last big powder shortage ten years ago was about the time I made the switch from 7 wsm to 270 wsm. Local outfit had a steal on magpro and it probably accounted for half the wear on my first barrel. The 270 wsm at the time had only federal, norma and winchester brass available.

Jan 30, 2008 · 300wsm brass is a great starting point since all you need to do is neck down making a false shoulder that will headspace nice and snug. Load them up and shoot. Here's a picture of a false shoulder next to the parent case.
