Nov 20, 2020 · It is the FCC designation of Bristol County as being part of the Providence DMA that determines what channels are carried. WCVB, WBZ and WHDH were grandfathered in Bristol County. We cannot get NBC10 Boston because it was a new station, and now WCVB because of Hearst who owns WCVB is asking too much from Comcast to carry it outside of Boston DMA.

Nov 20, 2020 · Way back when, Bristol county could receive (and still does) OTA broadcasting from boston, providing two different sources for network programming. When cable TV kicked in, the local cable companies carried both Boston and Providence. That's why we have (had?) access both. There is no "local" cable company anymore, only regional behemoths.

Comcast has chosen not to pays fee to Wcvb as was stated in its own message to subscribers.You could at least post an honest answer.It is not tv stations that force other tv stations of off cable. That is ridiculous . So I repeat as a long time Comcast customer in Massachusetts I am asking Comcast to pay to carry Wcvb.

Feb 19, 2024 · My Xfinity Stream app suddenly has lost access to local channels such as ABC and NBC ( maybe more ) on an Amazon Fire TV. These channels have always been available on this TV before but now are gone for some reason. If I try to click on them, I get a message "Please connect to your in-home WiFi". I get the same ‘Not Authorized’ message and the fine print saying it’s not included in my subscription, but I have a premium package and have been streaming these apps on my Sony XBR smart tv for years.

Sep 8, 2023 · A little confusing in Boston. From what I see, WFXT (Fox 25) carries Comet, LAFF, Bounce, Get TV. MeTV is carried by WCVB (ABC 5). This is info from Wikipedia and the channel web site station finders, so not sure just how up to date it is. It's probably not a carriage issue as WFXT is owned by Cox, and WCVB is owned by Hearst.
