K9 Rev, a Dutch Shepherd, was born September 18, 2018, to the proud parents of Myrca (mother) and Devil (father). K9 Rev began his training to become a police service dog when he was just six weeks old with his partner.

Rev specializes in people searches and apprehensions, as well as firearm detection.

The West Covina Police Department currently has three K9 Teams in service. Two of the three K9s were purchased and trained exclusively through community-donated funding. The goal of the Friends of WCPD K9's is to assist the WCPD with all future K9 purchases as well as equipment and training needs.

The Friends of the West Covina Police K9’s organization is completely independent of the West Covina Police Department. All monies raised by its members stay within the organization and are solely used to improve the performance of the K9 unit and maintain a high quality of life for active and retired police service dogs.

WCPD SWAT is a collateral team that can be activated for high-risk search warrants, barricaded individuals, hostage situations and other tactical related incidents.

This division includes the Traffic Unit, the K-9 Unit, Jail Operations, Reserve Officers, Police Cadets, and award-winning volunteers who perform non-hazardous duties to free up sworn officers.
