Jul 16, 2023 · VTI holds 3,851. Compared to VTI, VUG is overweight in tech and communication services and underweight in financial, industrial, health, energy and consumer staples sectors. Everything in VUG is also in VTI, so the question would be, is a portfolio concentrated in two or three sectors going to outperform a portfolio that includes every sector?

Feb 18, 2013 · VUG is essentially half of the market, the other half would be VTV (Vanguard's Value Index). If you held a portfolio that roughly 50% VUG and 50% VTV you would essentially match the performance of VTI, but the individual pieces will pay more in expenses and have more turnover and taxable transactions because of the trading along the way.

Jul 27, 2021 · I have funds in VUG, VOO and VIOG. No reason to have funds in VTI as those funds are already part of one of the other funds. Over the course of the last year my VUG funds have gone from 213 to 297. VOO 297 to 403 and VIOG from 152 to 224. Just incredible growth for some pretty conservative funds.

Feb 13, 2024 · I was concerned with Scenario 1 that having your liquid account completely invested in VTI decreases your flexibility when you need to raise cash for a large purchase, for example a down payment on a house. Say I wanted to buy a house back in October 2022. VTI was down 26%, VUG was down 36%, and VTV was down 17.5% (from the peak).
