At low RPM, a VTEC engine uses a normal cam profile to retain a smooth idle, good fuel economy, and good low-end power delivery. The VTEC mechanism engages a high-lift, long-duration “race” cam profile at a set RPM value (i.e., ~5500RPM on the B16A) to increase high-end power delivery.

Nov 11, 2009 · No, that's not going to solve anything. The fuel and ignition maps (yes, multiple maps, high and low) have very specific values, which if aren't correct, can leave you sitting in a big pile of "you know what". I'm pretty sure that VTEC wouldn't even attempt to function without a VTEC enabled ECU anyhow. A piggyback is not the way to go.

Aug 7, 2004 · i believe #8 would be the part for the cam seal. When mine was leaking oil, it was a gradual leak through the solenoid. it would leak while running, and when vtec would engage, more oil pressure would push more oil out. For a leaky head, the vtec solenoid gaskets and the cam seals are some of the most common places oil leaks.

Jan 9, 2023 · Any of the above will work, regardless if the vehicle that the ECU came out of had VTEC or not, automatic or manual. That option would get enabled within the software of the tuning software. You're still going to need to run a wire for VTEC.

Nov 9, 2007 · I have a 99 GSR in which the CEL in constantly on. I checked the code and it's 22 (VETC Oil Pressure Switch). I have already replaced it with a new one. I even swapped out the VTEC solenoid for a known good one. That kept the light off for about a month. THe Problem occurs after I go into VTEC and then let off. Mostly around 60-90mph.
