Mar 18, 2012 · Victarion had given Wulf his best fighters. He envied them. They would be the first to strike a blow, the first to see that look of fear in the foemen's eyes. As he stood at the prow of the Iron Victory watching One-Ear's merchant ships vanish one by one into the west, the faces of the first foes he'd ever slain came back to Victarion Greyjoy ...

Jan 8, 2022 · Victarion looked at his fists. "She gave me horns. I had no choice." Had it been known, men would have laughed at me, as the Crow's Eye laughed when I confronted him. "She came to me wet and willing," he had boasted. "It seems Victarion is big everywhere but where it matters." But he could not tell her that.
(Spoilers All) Character Discussion: Victarion Greyjoy : r/asoiaf
Victarion thinks that since Euron gave him the horn, he is now the horns master. I bet that's not strictly the case. Euron probably didn't just find the horn randomly, he did something to get it. Something that makes him the horn's master. When Victarion has a thrall blow that horn he'll be making Euron the dragon's master.

Jul 12, 2023 · Victarion is constantly contradicting himself - "Euron's gifts are poisoned", yet he keeps the dusky woman around; Victarion "frees" slaves and then immediately sentences them to rowing for the Iron Fleet (clearly without any choice in the matter), and then compliments himself (" The dragon queen frees slaves and so do I."); etc. etc.

Aug 4, 2021 · Victarion interactions with the dusky woman, who is literally incapable of talking back, are still characterized by casual abuse, ordering her around, yanking her about by the arm, and straight up decking her when she reacted to Moqorro. If he is dumb enough to try that with Dany (and he probably is) he will die, immediately.

Jan 18, 2013 · I think Victarion draws a distinction that us modern readers don't see readily. Victarion respects his enemies, that's one of the reasons I like him. Salt wives might be rape victims by our standards, but there is a code about salt wives like there is a code about thralls. Euron's mongrels care for no codes of any kind.

Apr 5, 2024 · Unlike the thralls Victarion has the lung capacity and strength to blow the horn successfully, and if he comes away with burnt lips, he may also fit the HotU vision once intended for Euron of a corpse standing on the prow of a ship, eyes bright in his dead face, grey lips smiling sadly. ===== Theory 2: Victarion will sail the Smoking Sea
[Spoilers Main] Why do people here like Victarion so much?
Victarion Greyjoy exemplifies the over the top “fantasy Viking” aspect of Ironborn culture, he’s the kind of “hero” many of them probably dream of being as kids. He’s a towering, unstoppable brute who just wades into battle without a worry and inexplicably comes out the other side victorious and (mostly) unharmed.
The Stump That Was Promised: Victarion Grejoy is both Azor
Apr 1, 2023 · This undoubtedly impacted Victarion quite a lot (as we can tell from the 0 times he thinks about it), and could very well represent the first sword, the blade breaking in the water, as Victarion's father did. The second war in which Victarion is involved is his brother's rebellion, later called the Greyjoy Rebellion.
