V-TEC Vs Vanos Vs VVT-i: How Do They All Work?
Oct 10, 2024 · VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) hydraulically selects between low-lift lobes for when the engine is rotating slowly and high-lift lobes for when the engine is working...
Vanos vs Vtec - Bimmerforums.com
Nov 2, 2009 · VTEC uses different cam lobes, Single Vanos (93~99, depending on the motor) advances the intake cam 12*. VTEC is used at higher RPM's (4500-5k+?) while Vanos is uses from ~1200-4000*, depending on calculated load and a few other conditions.
VTEC vs VANOS - Bimmerforums.com
Mar 14, 2009 · VTEC switches from one cam profile to another at a specific rpm. VANOS continuously varies cam timing based on engine load, throttle position, rpm, and several other factors through an infinite range, not just from position 1 to position 2. You don't feel VANOS because it's not as crude of a system.
Vtec vs. Vanos : r/cars - Reddit
Jun 7, 2014 · VVT (a generic name for vanos) just changes when they open during the engine cycle. Electronic lift control (which is what makes VTEC better than just VVT) actually engages another cam lobe that holds the valves open longer.
What It Does, Why It Fails and How to Fix It - Bimmers.com
Jun 9, 2022 · Unlike VTEC, VANOS doesn’t really “kick in”. Cam phasing VVT systems generally don’t have a single point where they step in and make a massive difference. Instead, the system works throughout the entire rev range.
Why does everyone love Honda VTEC but not Toyota VVT-i? : …
Jan 17, 2022 · Neo vvl from the sr20ve, vvtli on the 2zz, and true vtec with changes in valve lift on both the intake/exhaust cam are what enthusiasts typically refer to when discussing vtec. So all discussion about vanos, vvt, vvti miss the point.
VVTi vs. VTEC | Motioncars - Inquirer
Aug 15, 2000 · VVT-i and VANOS are theoretically simpler than VTEC because there is only one mechanism per camshaft and not each individual cylinder.

Oct 17, 2010 · From what I understand, VANOS only boost low end torque, and makes the torque curve flatter. But max figure remains practically unchanged. Sorry if I didn't make this clear in the first email. On the other hand, VTEC provides low end torque, AND some high end torque and higher HP. The VTEC sounds superior to me. Michael Ting >> That did it.

Jun 9, 2005 · VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. It basically uses two sets of camshaft profiles-one for low and mid-range rpm and one for high rpm operation. An electronic switch shifts between the two profiles at a specific rpm to increase peak horsepower and improve torque.
VVT-i Vs. VANOS | Lexus IS Forum
Jun 26, 2000 · VANOS doesn't offer variable lift like VVTL-i or VTEC does. So...VANOS is like VVT-i, and, yes, Double VANOS acts on both the intake and exhaust valves. So that's why Double VANOS is better than VVTL-i.
