Nov 2, 2009 · VTEC uses different cam lobes, Single Vanos (93~99, depending on the motor) advances the intake cam 12*. VTEC is used at higher RPM's (4500-5k+?) while Vanos is uses from ~1200-4000*, depending on calculated load and a few other conditions.

VANOS continuously varies cam timing based on engine load, throttle position, rpm, and several other factors through an infinite range, not just from position 1 to position 2. You don't feel VANOS because it's not as crude of a system.

Oct 17, 2010 · From what I understand, VANOS only boost low end torque, and makes the torque curve flatter. But max figure remains practically unchanged. Sorry if I didn't make this clear in the first email. On the other hand, VTEC provides low end torque, AND some high end torque and higher HP. The VTEC sounds superior to me. Jun 9, 2005 · VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control. It basically uses two sets of camshaft profiles-one for low and mid-range rpm and one for high rpm operation. An electronic switch shifts between the two profiles at a specific rpm to increase peak horsepower and improve torque.

Jun 26, 2000 · VANOS doesn't offer variable lift like VVTL-i or VTEC does. So...VANOS is like VVT-i, and, yes, Double VANOS acts on both the intake and exhaust valves. So that's why Double VANOS is better than VVTL-i.
