Sep 18, 2020 · Another exciting update on the W30. The guys are starting on the sills below the doors and rear quarter panels. On a regular Beetle this is where the heater channel is located but the W30 had no heater at all.

May 2, 2021 · The W30 was designed soon after starting in mid-1936 and the size of that hatch was carried over almost verbatim. It was only when the body was completely redesigned for the V303 & VW38 series they must have been confident that the size of the front hood had no effect on the body rigidity.

Feb 19, 2009 · Seems this is the oldest surviving major part of a pre-production VW and would be interesting to share. The chassis was found in a junkyard in Austria. It was built in 1937 and used for one of the batch of 30 W30 prototypes.

Apr 7, 2018 · The W30 used 3.00 x 17 inch rims with five bolt pattern that was the same as used on some Mercedes-Benz cars. In fact the rims in the W30 are very similar to those of the MB 170H. It kind of makes sense as the W30 cars were built at the MB Sindelfingen factory.

Oct 28, 2021 · The headlights on the W30 were meant to be on the fenders right from the beginning and because they were using generic Bosch units that had to be mounted upright, a sizeable fairing was necessary to mount those units to the sloping fenders.

Jul 6, 2020 · The team has access to plenty of drawings and photos. This includes the photos of car W30/13 which was at some point sliced across the length of the body in order to showcase the construction of the all-steel body structure of the new Volkswagen.
