I know it's "not recommended" but I tried the 'config.vmprov.enableHybridMode = true' trick listed in KB79446 as it has worked for me in the past with vDS 6.6.0 to vDS 7.0.3 (note, this KB has not been updated for vSphere 8 yet).

At extremely high currents, with very high Vds, Ids will indeed be determined based on Vgs. You can see this in the datasheet for many power MOSFETs; they may give a graph of Vds vs Ids for different values of Vgs, and you'll see that at low Vgs and high Vds, current is dependant on Vgs, but as you increase Vgs higher and higher, Vds dominates more and more.

Aug 19, 2022 · Moving to VDS also puts a lot more dependency on vCenter. If you are using VSS you can literally just rip vCenter out and reinstall and add hosts back, if no other dependancies. If you use VDS you cannot do that, without first converting back to VSS or if you are unable to do that you will have to perform some recovery operations.

May 24, 2023 · The only thing I was able to transfer to vDS was the unmanaged network (vmotion). I'm thinking of redoing the vDS because. new servers will be added and the north, where vDS is currently located, will be decommissioned the new esxi is a newer version than vds (however it is still compatible with the version I have).

Dec 16, 2021 · If talking about generic stuff, than from 6.5 to 7.0 I might be not that brave as there is a KB out there telling that there were major changes in 6.6 vDS version.
