What began as a small, all-male band attached to the Military Department on the Knoxville campus has grown to a 415 member university marching band known worldwide for its outstanding musical performance and precision marching.

The University of Tennessee Pride of the Southland Alumni Marching Band, with more than 4000 members, is one of the largest and most active alumni associations on campus. The Alumni Band Council meets monthly to plan activities for the membership and to work with the UT Development Office in fundraising efforts for band scholarships. Upwards

Auditions are held for all students who wish to perform in a concert ensemble during the spring semester (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and University Band). The UT Drumline is comprised of four sections. Snares, Tenors, Bass Drums, and Cymbals. Depending on the number of students auditioning, the UT Drumline typically carries 10 Snare Drums; 5 Tenors; 8 Bass Drums and 12-15 Cymbals. The Pride of the Southland Marching Band does not have a front ensemble.

Ashley is a two-time graduate of UT in Music Education and a Master of Music Education. She is a former member of the POTSB Alumni Council and the President Elect of the East TN Band and Orchestra Association.
