Looking to see what some have used to keep their system up and running for a bit during power loss. And what kind of run times have you got?

Only things that will go into the UPS currently would be a UDM-Pro and an 8 port PoE switch. But I would like something more in case I want to expand in the future. What are you all using? Edit: Ideally, I would want the network to be able to handle about 1 hr to 1 1/2 hours if a power outage happens. What kinda of UPS's help meet that criteria?

A UPS can definitely protect you against a power outage. I have an APC BE550 with the ISP gateway, an Edgerouter Lite, a Cisco switch and a Unifi UAP plugged into it.

Jan 3, 2023 · As for shutting down your UDM SE, how you can do that is in your unifi OS settings turn on SSH, make sure it has a static or DHCP reserved IP, then on your unraid box use a program like sshpass and save the ssh password to a file, and have your UPS daemon call sshpass to ssh into the UDM and trigger the shutdown.

Aug 8, 2022 · Yes, you can use the spec sheet, but small things add up too. I ended up connecting all my rack equipment + UniFi APs through and found all the equipment, including my two servers, average 125 W and peaked around 150 W. That makes the calculations much easier and I end up with about 30 min or more runtime on my current UPS.

Feb 7, 2021 · I am moving to an area with unreliable power. I have two APC SMT UPSs with network management cards and will be setting up PowerChute Network Shutdown, which will handle shutting down my VMware hosts/VMs and Synology box. Is there a way for the UPS or PCNS to gracefully shutdown a UDMP, or is a graceful shutdown necessary for a UDMP?

At best, a UPS should be viewed as an investment to protect the Ubiquiti gear from short outages or blips/fluctuations during bad weather. I hope Ubiquiti eventually releases more capable products from this perspective as I'd really prefer a system that has shutdown/startup intelligence tied in with the battery system.

Sep 15, 2023 · I got the APC UPS 1350VA UPS - BX1350M. Last time I tested it, it said I would have 43 minutes available. Connected devices are UDM-SE, Reolink 8ch NVR, Mac Mini (running Homebridge/Scrypted) and AT&T fiber modem.
