Black Adam (Teth-Adam) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was created by Otto Binder and C. C. Beck, and first appeared in the debut issue of Fawcett Comics' The Marvel Family comic book in December 1945.

Black Adam, real name Teth-Adam is the former champion of Shazam. After his fall from grace, he became the archenemy of the next champion, Captain Marvel. He has since worked to redeem himself with the Justice Society of America, but his path is long and troubled.

Teth-Adam was born in Egypt in the 26th Century BCE, along the banks of the Nile as part of the Kahndaqi tribe. His father, greatly in debt, died when the Nile flooded. As Teth was a child and too young to assume his father's responsibilities, he and his family were instead enslaved by Ibac.

Teth-Adam is a former champion of the Council of Wizards. After his son Hurut was made the Council's champion to liberate Kahndaq, he gave his wounded father the powers of the Egyptian Gods that were bestowed on him.

Black Adam (real name Teth-Adam) is the bitter and powerful Kahndaqi champion of magic who fights for justice using lethal force. After being freed from millennia of imprisonment, he became an enemy, and later uneasy ally of the Justice Society and Superman.

Teth-Adam or “Mighty Adam” began as a hero of humanity, but then allowed his power to corrupt his ideals and desires. Now labeled Black Adam, he was exiled by Shazam, but returned in the modern day.

The original champion of the Wizard, Teth-Adam was a former slave who channeled the power of six Egyptian Gods to fight evil.

As the wizard grew older, he sought a champion worthy to inherit his powers. The young prince Teth-Adam of Kahndaq (Ramses' son) impressed the wizard with his fairness and decency. But before Shazam could bestow his powers, his daughter Blaze made a deal with the god Set.

Sometime around 6600 BC, a ruler named Teth-Adam of Kahndaq sent one hundred of the finest stallions on Earth to Katar Hol as a tribute. In DC Comics, Teth-Adam is Black Adam, one of the archenemies of Captain Marvel. He was granted the power of Shazam, but went mad when his family was killed.
