May 21, 2021 · The Tesla K80 is a computing GPU, so Windows will not recognize it as a graphics processor by default, though it can be used for computations and neural network training, etc. In order to trick Windows into using the K80 for graphics, these are the steps that I followed: Enable "Above 4G decoding" in the BIOS.

Feb 23, 2021 · Hi, I have registered at this site mainly to follow this topic. I have Tesla K80, RTX 3060Ti, x570 Aorus Elite mb, Ryzen 2700x. So, I dont have iGPU. I tried to use K80 in VM QEMU/KVM with PCI passthrough but unseccessfully (Arch linux host, Windows 10 guest).

I picked up the P40 instead because of the split GPU design. And the fact that the K80 is too old to do anything I wanted to do with it. I like the P40, it wasn't a huge dent in my wallet and it's a newer architecture than the M40. Mar 23, 2023 · Just finished the last of the adjustments on the Tesla K80 project. It is now running at roughly 1.2 gHz core and 4 gHz effective on memory. It took a long time and a lot of patience, but it'll run Shadow of Mordor at about 50-60 fps at ultra settings 1080p.

Nov 26, 2020 · Yeah I had a older Tesla k20x and before I built my new pc, my motherboard didn’t have “Above 4G Decoding” in the bios, so with a second gpu I would get device manger errors. I haven’t ever had a external gpu enclosure or a laptop capable of it but I would expect issues with Tesla cards because they can be weird.

May 4, 2023 · Ok, so I was able to get the K80 working with the alternative torch build that I linked in my other comment. I ran torch.cuda.is_enabled() in python, and it returned True. The Automatic1111 webui is being a pain though, since the install script automatically downloads newer torch binaries.

Nov 3, 2021 · Hi! I recently published designs for a standalone cooler for the Tesla K80. It seems like there has been a recent renewed interest in these cards due to the silicon shortage, but in all of the posts/videos about them the cooling is kind of an afterthought.

The infographic could use details on multi-GPU arrangements. Only 30XX series has NVlink, that apparently image generation can't use multiple GPUs, text-generation supposedly allows 2 GPUs to be used simultaneously, whether you can mix and match Nvidia/AMD, and so on.
