谭平，1980年出生在湖南娄底涟源，2000年获得上海交通大学应用数学专业学士学位，2003年获得上海交通大学模式识别与智能系统专业硕士学位，2007年获得香港科技大学计算机科学与工程专业博士学位，并于同年进入新加坡国立大学电子与计算机工程系任助理教授。 现任加拿大西蒙弗雷泽大学（SFU）终身副教授，2019年9月出任阿里人工智能实验室计算机视觉首席科学家。

Tan Ping is an artist, educator and vice president of Chinese National Academy of Arts. He graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1984, studied in Germany in the late 1980s’ and received a master's degree and a Meisterschule degree.
