Robyn’s conflicted feelings over what is morally right and morally wrong underscores Marsden’s primary argument that traditional notions of right and wrong don’t apply during war. For example, Robyn knows that war and killing are morally wrong, but she sympathizes with the enemy soldiers’ reasons for invading the country.

In chapter one, the characters of Robyn (pg 1), Chris (pg 2), Fi (pg 3), Corrie (pg 3), Kevin (pg 5), Elliot (pg 6 briefly), Meriam (pg 6 briefly), Homer (pg 7), Ellie (pg 8) and Lee (pg 10) are introduced to the reader. The chapter starts off introducing the main character, Ellie, and how she is writing the book.

Tomorrow, When the War Began is a 2010 Australian action-adventure war drama film written and directed by Stuart Beattie and based on the 1993 novel of the same name (the first in a heptalogy) by John Marsden. The film was produced by Andrew Mason and Michael Boughen.
