Jul 16, 2004 · SW21 is the chassis code for any MKII that came with a 5S engine. This is limited to the North American NA. The VIN has a SW21 in it, and the chassis have a sequential number system that is separate from the numbering on the SW20 chassis. Total production for the SW20 cars is around 80K. Total production for the SW21 is around 19K.

Dec 14, 2022 · SW21 rear hubs are as hard to find as E153 transmissions, at least for me. The previous owner did the 2GR swap mostly by the book with good Frankenstein parts, are the NA hubs likely retained, or is there another RAV4 axle part number combination people have found works with the turbo hubs?

May 11, 2005 · SW20 is Toyotas designation for the chasis. On the VIN sw21 means n/a and sw22 means it was a turbo. So, if the parts say they are for the sw20 then they should fit any mk2 MR2. You just have to be sure that they are for the 5sfe engine (if they are exhausts or engine parts---or n/a which is what you have). HTH Daniel

The E153 and S54 gearboxes that came standard in the manual SW20 and SW21 as most know have different ratios but how different are the speeds they output to the wheels at certain RPMs. The E153 on the Turbo, GT and GT-S SW20 models does have some longer gears but most of the time it is only 5th gear that people look at or talk about.

Nov 20, 2023 · 1993 SW21 With A/T. Bad vibration on start-up and idle, seems to lighten up above 1,200 rpm's. Runs and shifts fine. Seems like a rougher ride than usual. Engine was dropped out 4 years ago. Shop owner has passed away and shop closed, my paper work doesn't mention any mounts replaced and if they were the price of parts don't reflect OEM mounts.
