Feb 27, 2019 · TeXnicCenter did the right job at install time, it did detect Sumatra was already installed. However, Sumatra was choosing Notepad++ as reverse search editor instead of TeXnicCenter. I corrected the issue in Sumatra in "Hamburger menu icon" > Settings > Options and opted to choose TeXnicCenter. See the change I made in the next figure.

The Problem is, mentioned in the questions comment, that SumatraPDF is linked to the Latex-Compiler through synctex and doesnt know, which created the resulting PDF. You can use the inverse-search command through the a commandlineswitch of SumatraPDF: -inverse-search .
