It slots well into the passenger seat base – even the lowered base that we have in our van. In our van it also sits well just behind the driver’s seat lodged up against our cabinets.

It would be annoying to have to manually turn the amp on every time I started up the van and wanted to listen to music, so this system of device power switching needs to be automated.

I'm definitely not an audio expert but I believe you always want your subs facing the back of the vehicle. So it will cause the sound waves bounce back to the front of the van. There are a lot of factors that will affect the sound.

You could use a single traditional 12" or 10" sub, or shallow versions of these, or multiple 8" subwoofers, etc. First choose the location and amount of space you are willing to give up for the Subwoofer. In general, sealed enclosures are smaller overall.
