Dec 23, 2011 · Z-clips are attached to the backs of the natural stone cladding panels at the locations indicated in the shop drawings. The panels are then slid into place; the Z clips fit into the Z-moldings. Finally, structural silicone is used to secure the system.

Z Clips are a clip and rail system used to hang interior wall panels, cabinetry, artwork, mirrors, and just about anything that needs a concealed hanging system. Just install the rails to any substrate, attach the corresponding clips to your subpanel, and they lock together.

The Z-Clips must be attached to the back of the panel with screws as indicated by the approved shop drawing. Set stone panel in place, lean it forward and apply a table spoon of structural silicone, 24 inches on center to the framing members at the center of the stone panel.

Starting with the bottom row, position the Z-clip sections as indicated by the shop drawings. Using the C Clamps, clamp the Z-clip section into place on the steel framing and then screw the Z-clip sections onto the steel framing. Do not exceed a maximum of 24” on center between Z-Clips, or as required for wind loads.
