Aug 28, 2019 · Oil-based stain blocks – These are probably the most effective stain blocks available, so you might use them on very difficult stains like water-damage and mould. The biggest downside is the smell, which can be quite overpowering in a confined space. Extended drying times can also be an issue. Shellac Stain Blocks – I like using

Zinsser BIN Aqua Review – The Full Truth - The Decorators Forum UK
Sep 4, 2023 · The overall performance is good too. Its stain blocking capabilities far exceeds any other water-based product I have used. Adhesion is also up there. I have tested Zinsser BIN Aqua extensively on different types of materials, and it’s been perfect every time. For instance, it’s fantastic for priming previously stained or varnished timber ...

Polycell Stain Block Review - Decorator's forum UK

I have tested both products side-by-side and they’re both extremely effective when it comes to blocking nasties. Another difference is the opacity. Most paint is made by scientists in a lab.
How to stop Knot Bleed – a Full Guide - Decorator's forum UK
Jan 16, 2024 · This is a fully water-based adhesion primer, stain block and knot blocker in one. It has great opacity (which often means you don’t need to apply as many topcoats). Zinsser BIN Review – Shellac Based Primer - Decorator's forum UK
Apr 16, 2020 · Zinsser BIN is the industry leader in shellac-based primers. You wouldn’t use it as a finish coat. It’s more of a problem-solving product before overpainting with something else. Johnstone’s StainAway is advertised as a stain block and finish coat in one. I wanted to love this product! It held so much promise. It genuinely without any issue stain blocked a really badly water-stained ceiling.
The Best Anti-Mould Paints - Decorator's forum UK
