Somaini reached success at a worldwide level in 1959 with the exhibition hall at the V Biennale of San Paolo in Brazil, where he gained the first international prize for sculpture: this international recognition allowed him to access the United States art market.

Francesco Somaini died on November 19, 2005, in Como. In 2007 the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea of Rome mounted Somaini’s first posthumous retrospective exhibition.

Sep 27, 2024 · SOMAINI FOUNDATION. The Somaini Foundation is based in a complex owned by the FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano) located at number 31 of Corso di Porta Vigentina. It is a well-preserved example of a “casa di ringhiera”, one of the typical social housing of old Milan, today rather rare.
