Dec 2, 2010 · So 30 mins gives enough paste to do a whole board saving me at least 2 hours of arduous smd wire-soldering work pin by pin. That's 1.5hrs saved, subtract another 15 min for placing parts & solder paste stenciling. Still 1.25hrs saved per board. Plus no solder wasted and better fillets all around, with no heat damage to components or traces.
Simple Trick For Solder Paste In Storage | Electronics Forum …
Dec 16, 2015 · Most of the needles I use for adhesives and such are in the 19 to 22 gauge range. I still use fine solder (0.015") for hand soldering and have not used solder paste, because it has such a short shelf life. For applying small dots of whatever or for holding parts, I use "tooth picks" made of music wire. I simply deburr and slightly round the cut ...

Jul 27, 2016 · In order to gauge the degradation, it is best to put a small amount of paste on a non-wettable substrate, like a piece of ceramic. Reflow the paste and see how well it coalesces. If coalescence is good, the solder paste will reflow into a ball, surrounded by a flux pool that is relatively free of uncoalesced solder particles. If the paste has ...

Apr 7, 2009 · Then apply a little bit of paste flux to the leads and apply it to the PCB pads. Then go back in with the soldering iron and heat up each leg till the solder re-melts. You have to use a paste flux or you'll either get a bad solder joint or end …

Dec 9, 2009 · True, I have not seen acid-core solder in the very fine (0.015") size used for SMD. The point is, acid core solders do exist, and the distinction between paste and liquid fluxes is irrelevant with respect to whether the flux is acid, rosin, or organic base. BTW, the acid in low-temp fluxes is often zinc chloride or a similar acidic salt in paste.

Jan 6, 2021 · Solder paste will make a huge difference. When soldering NORMAL components with leads, it's customary to apply heat to the interface between the lead and the pad and apply solder to the pad and opposite the soldering iron tip. 63/37 is better than 60/40 for SMT work.
DIY wave solder. Is it possible? | Electronics Forum (Circuits ...
Aug 24, 2010 · The principle behind the machine to me is to first pre-heat the pcb then flux it and finally solde the components by dipping the pcb into a molten solder. Having understand how the machine work, am thinking may be it is possible to make a diy wave soldering machine by manually passing the pcb through the three stages involved.

Nov 30, 2010 · In terms of solder paste use...I have found it much faster to slap a dab on several smd pads, melt it into a fresh coat on the pads, while holding a smd resistor ready, place the resistor with tweezers on the fresh solder and reflow. That way u get a very strong reflow joint and u can be sure there's no solder bridges or stray beads formed.
