Smoothwall exists to help keep children safe and thriving in their digital lives. We do it by supporting and empowering them, and those who care for them - in school, at home and everywhere in between.

The Smoothwall Open Source Project was set up in 2000 to develop and maintain Smoothwall Express - a Free firewall that includes its own security-hardened GNU/Linux operating system and an easy-to-use web interface.

Smoothwall (formerly styled as SmoothWall) is a Linux distribution designed to be used as an open source firewall. Smoothwall is configured via a web-based GUI and requires little or no knowledge of Linux to install or use.

The Smoothwall Express 3.0 installation guide covers everything you need to know to get you going and connected to the internet as well as how to access the administration web interface. The administrator guide covers everything else and can be downloaded from my.smoothwall .

Aug 29, 2000 · Degu is the first ever version of Smoothwall to come in multiple architectures: 32bit, for standard x86 compatibles; and 64bit, for Intel Core 2s and 64bit Athlon chips. This change to multiple processor types means that updates are specific to the different architectures.
