Ungar and early Eldon - SlotForum
Aug 8, 2018 · Hi,it seems the first set by Ungar was made in 1960. Here is a Ungar catalog from 1960. It shows set # 311but its a painting not a photo. The closeup shows the cars came unassembled. The 1st photo I show is the real 311 set with the cars assembled. But the wire contacts for the track had to be put in by hand.

If all you want to do is run them against other Eldon cars, or perhaps the equally dismal EARLY Strombecker cars, you'll be fine, although know that you are really playing with the bottom feeders in the slot car world. Eldon made a few 'decent' 1/24 scale cars, decent when compared to their 1/32 scale cars.

Dec 2, 2010 · With pancake cars, especially T-Jets, I always stuck with the original Aurora red oil for the bottom end of the armature shaft. Those cars are prone to the dreaded T-Jet "squeek of death" which can ruin your whole day. Recently I have found that Superlube from Slot Car Corner works very well and I have been entirely squeek free for over a year.
