I read in a forum deeply buried in the internet going through avr worked for someone with the same tv, g4 77”. I am guessing there is some serious hdmi handshake issue ...

Mar 4, 2019 · Every time I switched the HDMI output and cable on the unit I had the cable plugged into the opposite port of what I was setting the output to. I finally realized what I had done after I got it working with the dual output setting and viewed the system information on the screen and saw it was using HDMI 2 out. DOH! Idiot move. Lesson learned.

Aug 15, 2003 · Yes, the AVR-1910 can do that. You need to switch on HDMI Control and adjust the Standby Source setting to the relevant HDMI source you want to pass-through. You can set Standby Source to either "Last", so that it will pass-through the HDMI input you were using last, or lock it to a particular HDMI input. See page 28 of the manual.

Jan 23, 2022 · ahh yess, gotcha. just realised i need to have FULL arc handshake connection to view the On Screen Menu on my newly acquired 2014 rxv667. normally I can just plug the hdmi out(arc) into a monitor at my computer desk (which is where this AVR is located) to view the on screen menu, which is all i use the hdmi on the avr for at my desk.
