4X4 scout engine swap (diesel) - Pirate 4x4
Apr 18, 2016 · I currently have a 1973 scout ii 4X4 with a 304 motor and stock automatic. I need a new motor soon because mine is dying out. I would love to do a diesel motor and have seen some people doing a 4bt. I was trying to get some recommendations on which way to take. I do have a dana 44 in the rear and a dana 30 in the front.
1963 Retro-mod Scout 80 - Pirate 4x4
Jun 30, 2024 · When I was in high school, I rebuilt a 1963 Scout with the pick-up bed. It still had the 4cylinder engine. I firmly believe that the sheet metal they were made from came with the rust already embeded. It was stock and was light blue in color with the white pick-up cab. Wish I had it back. It was all power.

Scout front axle widths - Pirate 4x4
Jan 1, 2002 · Tom's axle is wider because he has Ford 5-lug outers on it. Scout outers are narrower (less scrub radius) than Chevy outers, so it is possible that the t-all outers are narrower also. Chevy housing should be 6.75" wider than Scout II housing. Chevy axleshafts are 36.13 and 18.31", Scout II axleshafts are 32.91" and 14.78".
Scout dana 44 front into CJ? - Pirate 4x4
Jan 13, 2012 · I swapped in a scout 44 front and rear into my CJ7 8 years ago and have loved the added strength and track width. My ride has been more stable in the rocks going SOA with the Scout 44's (on 36's) than I had with my 2.5" lift and and narrow tracks on 33's. I had to outboard my spring hangers. Used 2 pieces of 3/16" angle iron to sandwich the frame.
scout vs scout II - Pirate 4x4
Mar 28, 2008 · 1971 was the last year of production for the Scout 800 and the first year of production of the Scout II. A 1979 would be a Scout II. It's easy to tell. Early Scout-It may have a different grill but the body shape is the same
1 ton Axles for the Scout II - Pirate 4x4
Apr 23, 2008 · Getting ready to pull the rear axle. Pulled the Scout outside in 2wd.....hmmmm it didn't pull in 2wd before. Weird. The truck drove fine except for an odd noise that sounded like a r&p. Even in 4lo it work spin the rear tires without any issues. Weird. Pulled the driveshaft and inspected the rear gears. All looked normal.
Scout 80 questions - Pirate 4x4
Nov 9, 2006 · I'm gonna have to call bullshit on the 3100lb traveltop scout 80. The rock scout completely gutted and lightened weighs in at 3750 wet. My 80 with cab top, half the body missing, stock-ish engine/gear train, D44s, and 37s weigh in at 4100lbs. None the less, with birf upgrades, the toy axles would be fine.
