To keep your data private, Google Play Protect may reset app permissions for apps you rarely use. This feature protects devices that run on Android versions 6.0–10.

An app’s data privacy and security practices may vary based on your use, region, and age. Developers may use the “About this app” section of an app’s Google Play listing, the privacy policy, or other documentation to share app version-specific information with their users.

Files in the Safe folder can't be opened by any third party apps. The "Share" and "Back up to Google Drive" options aren't available in the Safe folder. Files in your Safe folder are protected by a lock, but anyone who gains unauthorized access to your device's internal storage may be able to access them.

If an app or site doesn’t meet our security standards, Google might block anyone who’s trying to sign in to your account from it. Less secure apps can make it easier for hackers to get in to your account, so blocking sign-ins from these apps helps keep your account safe.

If you’re signed in to your Google Account, Safe Browsing protection extends across your Google services by saving this data to your Google Account — for example, Safe Browsing can increase protection in Gmail after a security incident. Warns you if you use a password that's been compromised in a data breach.

What data access does the app have after it’s installed? Click the Permissions tab to see a list of the data and the Google apps the app will access, and what actions the app can take on that data. If an app can view, see, manage, or download your data, the developer can expose your data to other parties.
