The Saab 32 Lansen (English: Lance [Nb 1] [3]) is a two-seat, transonic military aircraft designed and manufactured by the Swedish aircraft manufacturer Saab AB. In late Autumn 1946, development of the Lansen began as a successor to the Saab B 18/S 18 attack aircraft.

Jul 11, 2016 · Developed in order to replace the WWII-era light bombers, attack and reconnaissance Saab B 18/S 18, the Saab J 21R/A 21R, and provide a ground-attack complement to the Saab J 29 Tunnan.

The J32B was guided to a target by Ericsson radar and a SAAB S6 computerized fire-control system. The pilot's control panel featured a radar gunsight display that integrated radar data with inputs from a Hughes AN/AAR-4 infrared search & track (IRST) sensor fitted under the left wing on some J32Bs.

November 3 marks the 70th anniversary of the Saab 32 Lansen aircraft. The Lansen made history by being Sweden’s first supersonic aircraft. A total number of 455 were produced, and the Lansen remained in operational use by the Swedish Air Force until 1997.

J 32B has been restored to flying condition, and it’s operated by the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight (SwAFHF) at F 7 Såtenäs. In order to be able to show the Lansen outside Sweden, it has been allocated civil registration SE-RMD, SE-RME and SE-RMF.
