Jun 6, 2003 · TRE means "Timing Retard Eliminator". And that is what it does. It makes the ECU think it's in 6th gear, and it maps accordingly. The lower gears are mapped to retard the ignition timing, and thus not as much performance can be had.

Nov 14, 2005 · Also, FYI, after visiting several locations, Radio Shack only carries the proper sized resistor for the TRE in a 100 pc. variety pack (still only 6 bucks, the 25 cent single resistor is a myth). Apr 7, 2009 · You need to recheck where you have the TRE plugged in. There are 2 triangle plugs on the SV1000. Another user had issues with his TRE and he had it plugged into the wrong place. It needs to be plugged between the GPS and ECU. If it is plugged in the right place it will NOT affect your fuel light.

The TRE is a device which allows much better throttle response in the first 4 gears on all EFI Suzuki sportbike models. It acheives this by bypassing the gear position sensor, and allowing the most optimal ignition map to be used in all the gears.
