STP oil treatment , would it hurt anything? | BobIsTheOilGuy
Nov 5, 2018 · True that STP Oil Treatment (KV100 = 200 cSt) does thicken your oil. I would avoid it in winter, since all the heat transfer to cold air from the sump & block actually works to keep oil a little cooler running in steady state operation.

Jul 23, 2008 · They had their oil treatment (no. 1 selling brand); their 10W-50 '15,000-mile' oil; their 'silver bullet' double filter. It's all petered out since then - they don't sell oil anymore, andf their oil and fuel treatments are just cash-cows for Clorox - there's no …

Feb 19, 2008 · Here is a link to a VOA that was done on STP High Mileage Oil Treatment. Basically, it was little more than an oil thickener, with a few hundred ppm of zinc, phos, and calcium. FWIW, it had a TBN of 6.2. Disappointing. At least it should have boosted the zinc and phosphorous but here it diluted it.

Aug 29, 2012 · So yeah, STP oil treatment is diluting your additives. If you look at zinc for example, it has 569ppm. One table spoon of STP has 569 ppm, so would a 55 gallon drum of the same material. PPM is a concentration. So, since PYB has 868ppm of zinc, you are going to dilute it out by adding a pint of STP which only has 569ppm of zinc.

Mar 5, 2020 · Ever since I was a teen my pops taught me to add a bottle of STP oil treatment with every oil change. Been doing it ever since (40+ years) even though with modern oils its probably not needed. Anyway, I was changing the oil in my Silverado last week and while adding the STP product I noticed some "particulates" in
Can I safely use STP Oil Treatment in my car | BobIsTheOilGuy
Feb 27, 2018 · 2007 Honda CR-V, 200,xxx miles and coming up on needing it's next oil change. The engine is a tad noisy now that it's colder out (tick tick tick) and I was wondering if STP oil treatment is safe to use being that it has variable valve timing. Thanks! Rislone 16oz or 32oz bottle - not the Concentrate.
Stp and oil viscosity | BobIsTheOilGuy
Jan 4, 2011 · Now I know many, probably most of you have no use for Stp oil treatment. But I still would like to know if I were to put one 15 oz bottle in 4 quarts of 10w30 conventional or semi synthetic oil, what would the equivalent viscosity of the mix be. Approximately, not precisely. Would it be like a...

Oct 29, 2003 · The only oil additives I use is Lubro-moly MoS2 Anti-friction additive ($6/can at AAP) since I know exactly whats in it (colloidal MoS2), and what it does. Unlike STP or various "motor honey" products the Lubro-moly MoS2 is the same viscosity as motor oil, and so IMO would not harm things like the oil's pour point and cold cranking.

Jan 8, 2020 · I'm actually looking for a way to offset DI fuel diluted oil. My L83's have the easiest to reach oil filter ever and the engines (2) dump a quart when I pull one off. Thinking of 5k on new oil/filter … add viscosity (SAE30 SN Plus ?) and then go another 5k on that oil and cheap (OEM) filter. Oil in use is M1 AP 0w20. (AZ clearance)
