Split Post Dielectric Resonators for Dielectric Measurements
The Keysight Technologies, Inc. split post dielectric resonator (SPDR) provides an accurate technique for measuring the complex permittivity of dielectric and ferrite substrates and thin films at a single frequency point in the frequency range of 1 to 20 GHz.

This example shows folders named for 1.092 and 3.075 GHz SPDRs. The following image shows the folder contents for the 1.092GHz SPDR. The executable file is named for the resonant frequency of the empty SPDR fixture in MHz.
Measurements were made by using three Split-Post Dielectric Resonators (SPDRs), a Helical Cavity (HC), two open resonators (ORs), and two Quasioptic (QO) transmission systems. Three laboratories were involved in the comparison. Vector Network Analyzers were …
This paper will introduce a method of measurement of loss tangent and relative permittivity of solder mask from 1.2 to 10.2 GHz and show the sensitivity of these properties to variability of temperature and humidity. The solder mask is coated on one side of a Corning® 7980 high-purity fused silica (HPFS) disc.
NPL has several Split-Post Dielectric Resonators (SPDRs) [1] that can be used to obtain the permittivity and loss angle of low-loss and medium-loss laminar specimens from measurements of Q-factor and resonant frequency [2].

SPDR baseline nominal frequencies are: 1.1 GHz, 2.45 GHz, 5 GHz, 10 GHz, and 15 GHz. Resonators for the other frequencies in the 1.1 to 15 GHz range can be manufactured under special order.
5.2.2 Select a SPDR test fixture in accordance with the test frequency. The specimen size and thickness shall comply with the requirements specified in Table 1. For example, if the test frequency is 10 GHz, a SPDR test fixture with 10 GHz nominal frequency should be selected.
