The 570 is probably cheaper because the 550 may have been made EOL and discontinued. This happens a lot - pricing algorithms look at the market and if there's not a lot of inventory available, they start slowly cranking up the price.

Apr 13, 2021 · SN530 is also present in pre-built desktops. I heard it is basically similar to a SN550 but is branded as SN530 for OEMs so they should be close to similar. Performance difference, if any, would be almost negligible. Both of them are probably made with similar process and both should be DRAM-less.

Jan 3, 2021 · I've been using an SN550 as my primary drive for a year without problems and this is the first I've heard of a "cold data" issue. I was using an Asrock b450m pro board and just moved it over to a b450 ITX build. A quick google returns an old Western Digital thread where it seems to be mostly ASUS X99 board owners who ran into this issue.

SN550 was a really good laptop drive because it had really low power usage, decent performance for 99% of laptop owners, and it was consistently well priced. Not even sure what laptop drive I'd recommend. Maybe the sn750 when it's on sale, but it's from the same company that pulled this.
