The EMD SD60 is a 3,800 horsepower (2,800 kW), six-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division, intended for heavy-duty drag freight or medium-speed freight service. It was introduced in 1984, and production ran until 1995.

Todays train includes a SOO SD60M. In the background, we see NY 17 in this view from up on the hill along Watson Blvd. SOO 6061 sits in Brunswick on the locomotive storage track behjind WB tower that usually holds the Rock Runner Gravel train …

Only the second SD60 made for the SOO Line sits in company with 3 UP locomotives in " the rack". More action with the CP trackage agreement. In 1992, SOO had all of their SD60s, today, only half the roster are left. #6001 is no longer a SOO unit, I believe it's with CEFX and #6046 is still holding on with CP, at least for now.

May 6, 1993 · In 1985 Conrail bought the three EMD demonstrators from EMD, and later went back to the well 4 years later, in 1989, for another 25 standard cab units. The demonstrators were numbered 6840, 6841, and 6842, while the later order was numbered from 6843 through 6867.
