Ring modulation - Wikipedia
In electronics, ring modulation is a signal processing function, an implementation of frequency mixing, in which two signals are combined to yield an output signal. One signal, called the carrier, is typically a sine wave or another simple waveform; the other signal is typically more complicated and is called the input or the modulator signal.

What Does Ring Modulation Do? A Friendly Explanation
Aug 28, 2023 · ring modulation is a powerful signal processing technique that can create a wide variety of unique and interesting sounds. It works by multiplying the amplitudes of two input signals together, creating sum and difference frequencies between the two signals.
Getting started: What is ring modulation? - Noise Engineering
Today, we continue the Getting Started series with another interesting synthesis technique: ring modulation. Ring modulation has some similarities to FM in that it uses two interacting oscillators to create a unique sound.
Ring Modulator - The Synthesizer Academy
A ring modulator multiplies two signals together to create two brand-new frequencies which are the sum and difference of the input frequencies. What does all that mean, though? Ring modulation is similar to amplitude modulation, so let’s pick up where we left off with the voltage-controlled amplifier.
Understanding How Ring Modulators Produce AM Signals
Feb 9, 2025 · Among modulator circuits, the ring modulator stands out as one of the most effective for generating AM signals. Learn why in this article. Amplitude-modulated (AM) signals can be generated using several types of modulator circuit.

What is Ring Modulation, Frequency Modulation, and Amplitude Modulation …
Mar 10, 2023 · Ring Modulation: Ring modulation is a technique where two sound waves are combined through a ring modulator to create a new, more complex sound. This technique can produce a wide range of interesting and unique sounds that are often used in electronic music, such as robotic or metallic sounds.
AM & Ringmodulation: Formula & Spectrum | RingBuffer
Ringmodulation creates a spectrum with two peaks - one below and one above the carrier frequency. Their position is defined by the difference between carrier and modulator. The carrier is supressed, since it is a bipolar signal.
