Nov 3, 2013 · My wife’s car, a silver Nissan, was broken into and the trunk lid lock destroyed. One estimator suggested a new trunk lid and lock. The insurance company wisely explained to me that the paint would never match and it was best to just replace the lock and fix and repaint the black strip the lock was located in. Great solution!

Taking off whatever trim came off easily and masking the rest, I painted the entire car – twice – with a 3-inch roller. Took forever, but the cost was minimal. Plus I had no spray gun or compressor and wouldn’t have known how to use them if I did.

Sep 2, 2008 · If you need to repaint stick with PPG. Pick the color you want, chances are very good the high school kid in town will total your car for you before anything like that happens. As for the earlier reply about the maroon paint rubbing off it was a single stage paint, pigment with the clear so to speak.
