Jul 20, 2018 · Just bought some red ogo from algae barn and wanted some advice. I plan on growing in fuge so I can feed my tangs with it. Right now I have cheto tumbling but thinking I need some rubble rock to allow the ogo to attach too. Any advice on cultivation red ogo for successful yields to feed herbivores? Thanks in advance!

Jul 1, 2019 · I have been growing Gracilaria Parvispora for > 20 years. Red Ogo needs white light. Under subdued lighting it will color up rich dark burgundy. Under increasingly intense light, it will color up as fire engine bright red, then yellow orange if light is intense enough. Your new tank does not have enough nutrients. Add fish and feed them nutrients.

Jul 18, 2024 · I have grown red ogo under a few different light. I tend to recommend full spectrum/planted aquarium spectrum for macros so whichever setting on your light is closest to that. Also, may be worth dosing ChaetoGro by Broghtwell. Probably not necessary, but I do think it helps with macro algae growth.

Dec 30, 2016 · Red Ogo originally referred to Gracilaria Parvispora. In Hawaii, Ogo was eaten fresh. Due to over harvesting, Gracilaria Tikvahiae was introduced. I have tumble cultured both of those species in 150G tubs. Macroalgae does not have roots. Some macros have holdfast to attach with, but not these two.
