X-raid vs. X-raid2 - NETGEAR Communities
Sep 12, 2013 · X-RAID for your Duo (v1) uses the capacity of the smallest disk. All disks must be replaced with higher capacity disks for expansion to take place. However since your NAS units that have X-RAID2 (Ultra 2 and Duo v2) are all 2-bay you would need to replace all disks to get vertical expansion anyway.
Turning 2disc JBOD volume into RAID - NETGEAR Communities
Dec 8, 2020 · 1 volume including 2 disks. It's listed in GUI as JBOD. But i think more acurate will be to show it as RAID 0. RAID-0 and JBOD are in fact different. If you started with a one-disk volume and added a second disk, then you have JBOD. If you started with two disks, you could have created a RAID-0 volume that spanned both disks. The difference:
Adding Hard Drives to RAID array. - Netgear
Apr 17, 2021 · The OS actually converts the RAID type before it does the sync, as that's how MDADM works when changing the RAID type. It's all automatic and you have to turn XRAID off if you don't want that It converts a 2-drive RAID1 to a 3-drive RAID5 that is missing a drive (and thus has no redundancy), then it syncs the new drive to fill the gap.
Solved: Understanding X-RAID and capacity - Netgear
Jul 2, 2016 · With this disk configuration XRAID uses RAID-5. Here's a (somewhat simplified) picture of how RAID-5 redundancy works. It's a math trick. Imagine 3 blocks of data - A, B, C. These blocks are stored on three of the disks. Now compute P=A+B+C, and store that in the corresponding slot of the fourth disk.

Solved: Re: How to Recover Data from RAID Based on Netgear.
Nov 17, 2023 · Start by connecting disk 1 to a PC, and see if the tool can see your data. If that fails, then try disk 2. This tool will also require you to offload the data to the PC. Be careful to keep the NAS powered down when removing/reinserting disks. Also label them by slot as you remove them, so you can keep track of which disks go in which slots.
Re: SLOW RAID Level X-RAID2, 6 disks (with dual redundancy)
Nov 10, 2012 · Well the NV+ (v1) is using hardware that's pretty much the same as a product released back in February 2006. The Pro 6 was released late 2010. Of course one would expect a big performance difference. The NV+ uses a slow Infrant CPU whereas the Pro 6 uses a …
